Lead Burning
Lead burning is a process in which alloyed or virgin lead is melted with a torch or fused to another lead component. Lead burning (also referred to as lead welding) is usually performed as part of maintenance procedures (such as the repair of lead linings for tanks), as well as during the installation of lead bricks, lead shot, or lead sheets in the floors or walls of dental and medical X-ray units and industrial locations. ABM Lead prides itself in meeting unique client specifications and requirements in all facets of lead burning and delivering services as a lead burning contractor and lead burner.
As mentioned previously, lead Burning (lead welding) is a process to install and/or repair lead components, by using alloyed or virgin lead that is melted with a torch or arc welding equipment to another lead part, component or casting. Lead Burning is performed on a wide variety of lead items, including tank linings, lead support systems, lead floors, lead walls, and lead pipes. Lead burning can include bonding lead to steel (in the case of tank or vessel linings, heads and support systems) or copper to produce homogeneous bonding lead lining or cover.
ABM Lead can provide lead burning and lead burning contracting services for a variety of tanks, vessels, enclosures, lead containers, lead pipes, lead castings, lead anodes, and other lead components that meet the client’s specifications and requirements. Along with lead burning and lead burning contracting services, ABM Lead fabricates and installs lead-shielded neutron and X-ray protection products, as well as other available custom services.
